For anyone who has been actively working with the iOS 5 betas, is there any evidence of a true FM Radio App? I am thinking one similar to the one on the iPod Nano.

Yes, I know there is iHeartRadio, Pandora, etc. I have these and love them, but I am interested in having FM Radio as well.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Nope. While the FM receiving chip has been present since the very first iPhone. There has not been any FM playback abilities introduced in iOS 5.

Have you heard of TuneIn Radio? I think it has a much larger selection of stations than iHeartRadio as iHeartRadio is only for Clear Channel stations.

I can no longer stand to listen to local radio stations. I don't understand the desire to have a radio tuner in the iPhone.

It's not even to just listen to FM station though these days. The chip in the iPhone 4 can actually Broadcast an FM signal, think about it, never needing to fuss with an FM accessory to listen to your iphone in an old car. Why can't they enable something like that in the software, it would be a killer app.

I would love it if Apple were to create an app that utilized the FM tuner in the iPhone. I wouldn't really use it for local radio, but I would definitely use it at the gym for TV audio (the gym mutes the TV's and transmits the audio from the broadcasts over fm radio). Being able to use my iPhone would to listen to the audio would be so much more convenient than having to switch to the cheap $1.00 radio I got from the dollar stored during breaking news or something similar (I tune the tv to CNN when I'm at the gym in case of any breaking news, yeah I know I'm a junky).
