FM Radio for iDevices

I was wondering if iDevices could get FM radio through a FM antenna like this one (or something similar) on Amazon?

No.

You can get TuneIn or iHeartRadio apps to stream radio over your data connection though.

Actually they do, but Apple doesn't write any drivers for it so they can't be activated.

No, probably not. To be honest it's not even clear if the pins on the chipset are connected to the microphone socket to act as an arial.

Well thats disappointing. I would listen to internet radio on the go, but my favourite radio station doesn't play on the internet. Besides, I have tried this before, and it takes a fair amount of data. I only have 500mb a month, and I go through that pretty quickly. I would get more, but that is all I can afford. Thanks for all your help. Especially you The Phazer.

I wouldn't be too surprised. The original Nook Color didn't have Bluetooth but the hardware was there. It's cheaper using someone already made then building a custom wireless module.

The new Nano has fm based radio. I was really surprised they added it while neglecting the iPod Touch and iPhone.

I think it's mainly has to do with the fact that the iPod touch and iPhone have wifi or cellular and probably expect users to buy songs from iTunes.

I'm not at all surprised myself. It gives consumers a reason to buy the Nano in addition to an iPod touch or iPhone.

Actually the last two generations of nano's have had FM radio.
