Hi there!

Is there any way to remap the Caps Lock key to toggle the fn key?
(Or maybe even a keyboard shortcut?)

This has been bothering me for a while now since I use a few programs that heavily rely on the F keys. I want an easy way to toggle the fn key because I really enjoy the media keys that Apple defaults these as. I already know there are settings in the preferences that allow you to switch them, but going through all of that is somewhat of a hassle.

Are there any expert programmers/hackers that can help me out here? I know there are others that would like this functionality as well.

remap caps lock

I've been trying to figure this out too. Best I can tell, it's not possible.

I've gotten used to toggling FN with BetterTouchTool using my own key combination to activate an AppleScript that does all the work. I would still like to remap Caps Lock to something actually useful though.

This is from a thread going on right now:

I quickly edited the AppleScript to make it work in 10.6.7. Just make sure you check "Enable Access for Assistive Devices" in the Universal Access system preferences.

Then just run this Apple Script (after unzipping) to toggle the behavior of the function keys. You can play around with keyboard shortcuts to activate the Apple Script.

It's working fine for me, but let me know if it doesn't work for you guys.

If you guys prefer an application file for the Apple Script instead, here it is in the attachment. You could then set a keyboard shortcut of your choice in BetterTouchTool.
