I'm not crazy with how Apple implemented Focus and DND, but I'm curious if it's just buggy. I'm talking about MacOS Ventura.

Recently updated to Ventura a few days ago. Setup DND & Focus. Basically I turn off all notifications all the time except for email. (like how MacOS was before all the notifications). It wasn't working everything was being blocked, an no email sounds etc. I did notice the profile linking across devices was connected. I turned that off. But that was a few days ago. No today it's all working like magic.

Sometimes buggy, other times overly complicated.

I turned off "Share Across Devices" almost from the start in iOS 15. That was buggy in that I was getting some devices' Foci turning on correctly but then turning off early. Once I setup each device to have their own schedule for Focuses, no problems.

Complicated, can easily put in contradictory items (not saying you did it...). For example, remember a thread where person had a list of who can contact but then put Messages app in "Allowed Apps" so got alerts for all texts.

(Add: I like the complexity [read: flexibility], but above bit me once as well, had an app by mistake in Allowed and was awakened by an alert in the middle of the night)

Yeah it's got to be buddy. The other day it was working as originally posted. Yesterday it wasn't working at all.
Today it's fine. I've made no adjustments.

I have a feeling this is a setting which phone's home and has to do with what's happening at Apple's end.

the focus settings also disengage/turn off if using the 'Set a Schedule (by App)' option. For example, I have Zoom.app set as 'work focus'. but if I browse my Mac during a Zoom meeting, the focus with deactivate/turn off while Zoom is in the 'background'.

This is a major flaw on  part—Focus settings should work if the app is the foreground or background! otherwise, whats the point?
