My desktop was cluttered with folders, etc. I created a new folder on the desktop and moved it to the right side of the dock. I then moved folders from the desktop to the new folder thus clearing my desktop, but having quick access to the files in the new folder.

I inadvertently clicked Remove from Dock and the folder disappeared. I've searched, but no luck finding it.

Any sugdgestions for me to follow in attempting to relocate the lost folder and contents?

2019 MBP running current Mojave.

So you created a new folder, and then put the others inside it, leaving just one folder on the desktop. Then you dragged that folder to your dock. When you did that, the folder on the desktop remained in place. Removing the folder from the dock would not affect the folder on your desktop.

chabig, I thought so too, but the only thing on the desktop is the icon for Macintosh HD. So unless you can guide me to unlocking some other form of the desktop, I'm still stumped.

rdubmu, did the Spotlioght search, no joy.

This is peculiar. Try doing a long listing of the Desktop folder from Terminal.
The command I am after is
ls -al ~/Desktop

Further thoughts/questions:

1. Look in your trash.
2. Are any of your drives external?
3. If searching turns up nothing, it might not be worth your time to continue. Restore the files from backup and move on. You might never figure out what you did.

Thanks for your responses! I'm going to look into restoring the desktop from latest TM back up.
