I need to encrypt/lock a few folders on my computer. What is the easiest and most efficient program or way to encrypt them. I know Filevault does the entire Home folder, but I just need a folder or two within that. Any advice?

there is no built in folder encryption in OS X. but you can make encrypted Disk Images, which would probably be your best bet.

As posted above use Disk Utility and create a New Disk Image that you can encrypt and it can be used as a Folder because you can add and remove documents from it.

The problem is, for a 10-12 GB folder, it takes a hell of a long time to encrypt.
