Folder icon location?

Could anyone tell me the location of folder icons and if its possible to change them from the apple ones?

Obviously when you add an app to each folder, it updates the icon....i'd like to change the icon to a picture rather than their 9 icons within an icon idea!

Is this possible without dumping Apples folder options and having to use FoldersSB?
