Folder icons in the dock

My icons for applications, my user dir, documents, and the hard disk are all borked in the dock. I've tried pulling them out and replacing them. My user directory icon keeps resetting to a folder with a quicktime midi file overtop of it! I've tried adding custom icons, but that didn't help.

anyone else have issues with folder icons in the dock?

Ah, I figured it out.

Stacks can be quite annoying.

How did you figure this out? My Downloads folder keeps using the last download I have as the icon. I'd rather it be the default downloads folder.

The strange thing is that my Documents folder uses the regular folder. The only thing I could think of is that it has so much in it that it doesn't fan out but instead gives me the grid. Does that make a difference?
