[I didn't find a result in "search" before asking]

When I drag-and-drop a jpeg from a website into a desktop folder, the folder physically "leaps" several inches out of position toward the center of the desktop. This is strange...and annoying, because it makes the folder harder to reach with subsequent drags-and-drops.

Anyone know why this happens? (OSX 10.5.8)

If I understand the problem, you have to adjust the "Grid Spacing" by selecting View Options.

No, I just tried and while it did adjust the layout of the desktop, as soon as I dragged-and-dropped a jpeg into the folder, it did the same thing again--teleported about 5" closer to the center of the screen, out of its original position.
