Hello all, great to be here. I repair/refurbish macs for a living in Vermont. The focus is on PPC but we have been pulled into the Intel market. I have been stumped by a MBP that a customer "got mad at" and dropped his fist on the top case. That blow left a pretty good dent over the Optical Drive, however upon a little prying it worked fine. Nevertheless, the screen went black and upon restart the Folder/? appeared. The 10.5 install disc booted fine. I pulled the HD and that booted fine as well vis USB. I figured the HD cable had failed. Yet, after trying three good cables there was no joy. I'm about ready to pronounce the logic board as the culprit. To be honest, I've never encountered this specific set of circumstances on any PPC so wondered if anyone out there had an idea?
Many thanks..... Rob

This would most likely point to a logicboard issue. What generation MBP is it exactly?
