I have a folder I'm sure I created on the Macintosh HD I called Internal Archive.
It sits with 4 other folders called Applications, Library, System and Users

Even though I have read/write access to it I cannot delete it.
I have tried:
1. Dragging it to the recycle bin
2. Unable to select Delete as button disabled
3. Tried rm - in terminal ......says no such file or directory , XX is a directory
4. Tried rmdir in terminal ......says no such file or directory

It's not causing any harm, but it's annoying me that I can't delete it.

Any help ?

Can you try this:

Open Terminal and type:

cd "/Volumes/Macintosh HD - Data"

and hit Return

then type:

ls

and hit Return

If your Internal Archive folder is there, you might be able to delete it with:

rm -R "Internal Archive"

Thanks for the reply.

As it's the internal drive which I don't use ( I boot from one of two external SSD for either Big Sur or Catalina ) I decided to do an internet recovery Shift-Option-Command-R and restore it with Mojave on it. So I reformatted it as APFS and installed Mojave on it.
