I swear I've seen an option to have folders stay together at the top of the file lists in finder, like Windows does. I am having a hell of a time getting used to having the folders arranged alphabetically with files, and try as I might, I can't seem to find an option in OSX for having the folders all stay together.

Am I dreaming, is this possible?

It's not very easy. In List view, you can sort by Kind, which groups all the folders together, but often in the middle of the list. A hack mentioned in this article can help you move them to the top or bottom of the list. Otherwise you can manually name all folders with a space at the beginning if you want them at the top, but that's a pain.

Other than that, you're kind of out of luck for now.
