Hi all,
It is probably a very simple query, but I am a little confused. I make music and record audio, and rely on quite a few AU and VST plugins. Among the first things I learnt about doing so on a Mac was that plugins need to be installed in the Library/Audio/Plugins/Components (or Library/Audio/Plugins/VST) folders. Normally, dragging a file in one such folders prompts a warning and requires authentication to proceed.
Well, today I did that again and I found that all of my sub-folders within the Plugins folder no longer require authentication. Below the permission list from the inspector.
Now, this seems easy enough to fix, and I did fix it, but I wonder how it could have happened. I did install a couple of plugins which came with their own .pkg installer, but it seems absurd to think that they might have modified the permissions permanently.
Hence a couple of queries:
First, is there any way to establish when the permissions on those folders where modified?
Second, does this call for a "repair permissions" type of strategy? I don't see any such option in Catalina, but that might just be my ignorance...
Thanks!
