Folders instead of Icons for docs, pix, movies

Hello, I did a fresh install of tiger w/ updates and I noticed my documents, pictures, movies, etc. in my finder window only show folders not the icons that my other machines are showing. This is on my newly aquired 12"PB.
Does anyone have any hints or suggestions?
