sorry if this is posted in the wrong category, but i've looked for countless hours and cannot find a solution, even our IT dept. is a bit stumped.
i work for a big business and run the only mac on a PC-based network, we have a server i connect to where we keep files, folders, etc.
so the volume has an alias and connects fine, also i use the internal VPN when i'm on the road and that also works well there...
HERE'S THE PROBLEM:
sometimes when i'm accessing certain folders with massive files, or others i have no went to in some time, it could take literally 5 minutes to load the content in said folder. in the finder window, the black spinning wheel keeps rolling in the bottom right until the files pop up.
i'm not savvy on the programming end, but after doing some research, it seems like what's happening is one of two things, it literally takes that long to index the files and pull them back to my finder, or maybe something is timing out and has to wait and reset on the IT end.
anyway, these are complete guesses and shots in the dark. i have no idea. is there anyone out there who can help, or knows how to prevent all of this "preloading" so the files are not popping up in 5 minutes, but rather instantly?
thanks for any help you can give!
