Today I opened my MacBook (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Due running OS X 10.7.5) and the folders on my desktop won't open. I've tried double clicking and Control-Click to select "Open" and neither option works. The only way I've found to get to the contents is to open my SSD folder and get to the folders that way.

Anybody experiencing similar issues or have any ideas on what to do to fix it?

Did you restart your Mac since then?

Yes I have restarted, and done a hard restart as well. I ended up creating copies of all my folders and renaming those the original folder names. Those opened up just fine. Never figured out what happened but everything seems to work well enough now.
