I lost the little folder at the bottom of my screen on the desk top that lets you get to documents from different programs easily. Can someone help me with what it is called and how to get it back?

Click the Finder at the left of your Dock. That will open a window showing your user folders. Just drag the Documents folder from there into the right side of your Dock.

I think Zeeinnm is talking about an 'alias' icon on the desktop. Go to your user folder and highlight the 'Documents' folder then right click or hold down the 'Control' key and click on the icon if youre using a single button mouse and choose 'Make alias' from the sub menu. Now drag the alias icon to the desktop.

It's called your Documents folder, which resides on the toolbar at the bottom of your screen, known as the Dock.
