I have been reading up on the whole FON system, and i was wondering if anyone here has experience using it with their iphone.

Yes, works great! Repeated requirement to authenticate, notwithstanding.

arghhh... so everytime you get in range of a shared FON router, you have to enter your credentials to login, instead of having it work like it does now with general wifi and wep keys- where it just logs on?

and- just to confirm myunderstanding o how this works- I buy a router, install it in myhouse (my living room so people walking by can get a good signal) and I can use any FON router in the world for free? I mean, it is really that simple?

Yes that's it, or if you have a BT Homehub, you can also get a Fon user name and pass.

you are in london- how easy is it to find hotspots- are they everywhere?

Personally, I think what BT is doing with fon is awesome. Every carrier here in the states should do it as well.
