Font book crash

I have loaded fonts into Font Book on my new MBP and now the app keeps crashing. Also my emails are very strange font and gobbledekook!!!

Have you tried using Font Book to resolve duplicates? How many fonts did you load in and were you doing anything else with the system whilst loading them?

This problem is still around in 10.5.2

Font Book crashes on launch after fonts are installed (~/Library/Fonts/)
It continues to crash after they are deleted.
Reboot doesn't fix it.

a solution

Font Book.app can me made to run again by deleting the file:
~/Library/Application\ Support/Font\ Book/fb.db

It will crash on the second launch unless the following font is deleted.
(disabling the font was not enough)
(changing the .extension was not enough):

-rwxr-x--- 1 admin wheel 4400253 Mar 3 18:44 ~/Library/Fonts/KAN00UP.TTF*

This is likely a Chinese Traditional Big5 font.

I have the exact same problem.
Just spend an entire weekend having FontBook going through every font on my hard drive (which takes days) and deleting the corrupted fonts. But still Word, Illustrator and InDesign will only run in safe mode
