Hello, I am a long-time Windows user and I just bought a used iMac.
(2008 Aluminum, 2.4ghz IC2D, 20" 2gb ram 2 more on the way).
I had some Star Trek fonts on my windows XP & 7 machines that I used in MS Office 2003.

I transferred them to the iMac running OSX Mavericks. The font app showed many minor errors, and a few serious ones. It said not to install those. I installed the fonts with minor errors and I ended up making some duplicates. I used the font app to delete the duplicates, but it kept quitting on me and I had to restart it several times. I thought I had them all taken care of and started MS Word for Mac 2011. It kept crashing on me. I deleted all the fonts in the user tab and Word started fine.

I tried downloading fonts from the internet and they showed up in the word font drop-down menu, and the preview looks like the font, but when you type it is not the font.

Does anyone know how I can get them to work?
The main thing I was planning on doing on this mac was writing my Star Trek story with these fonts. (Mostly for titles and headings because it may not be pleasant to read if I use them for all the text).
If not, does anyone know of some Star Trek fonts that work on word for mac?
