I work at an editing facility with an Xsan. There are 7 edit rooms connected to the Xsan, and projects are frequently passed from editor to editor. There's been a growing problem with fonts. We use Font Reserve and each room has their own connection. So when Edit 1 activates an obscure font, and Edit 2 picks up his project a week later, Final Cut will substitute this font with Lucinda Grande, without any warning or dialogue.

Why is there no warning from Final Cut that a font substitution has taken place? Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Avid all seem to be able to handle this simple task, wassup FCP?

Any insight or suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

FCP's built-in text generators are one of its weakest points ... which is a very good reason to use the Boris text generators (bundled with FCP), LiveType, Motion, AE or Photoshop for creating titles.
