The type of font in calendar and in the notepad is more fine now and not as bold. I have a
Sister with the IPhone and can't see well. This one change in IOS7 makes it more difficult for her to see. The calendar and the notepad. The yellow background in old notepad made the already darker font, stand out more. Remember, some users have sight issues. She has to use a magnifying glass now in those two applications.

Settings > General > Accessibility and turn "Bold Text" on and possibly have a play with the Dynamic Fonts under Larger Type on the same menu to make the font bigger.

Fonts used to be easier to read

Enlarge the font and bold the text as the previous post suggests. You can make it even clearer than in iOS 6.

Increase contrast accessibility setting can also help a bit in conjunction.
