Footage imports into imovie but not into FCP

I'm using a DXG 595v shooting HD footage. I am able to import the footage into imovie HD and iMovie 08, but I am unable to import the clips into FCP 6. When I try I get an unrecognized file error message. Let me know if you have any ideas, or if you've had the same problem. Thanks

I think that camera records to AVCHD format (1920x1080, H.264). I think you need to update to the latest version of FCP to handle this video.
