Unlucky to those eMac, iMac, Mac Mini, MacBook Pro owners and anything else not listed...

Yes it will work on the other systems, but isn't that a bit of an odd way to put system requirements?

I think rather than list a huge list of each and every Mac Apple's produced over the past few years, they're just listing a few basic models as a rough guide.

so G4 don work well?:( Guess i can only install in My G5 and core 2 duo mac.
I'll say two things... I've found previously that the game runs perfectly well using lower specced machines – it's a little slower and you can't run every league in the world but the game is more than playable – and also as pknz says the demo is released today, so it might be an idea to download that and give it a try if you have any concerns as to how well it'll run on your setup.

Good stuff! I've no doubt it should run very well on a MacBook Pro. I'll be downloading the demo myself tomorrow to give it a whirl.

By the way, has anyone heard anything about an actual release date for the game, rather than the slightly ambiguous 'before Christmas'? I had read late October somewhere but I've not seen anything official from the publishers...

To those who have now downloaded the demo (I'm in the process) exactly where do the limitations lie?

Does it time out after a few weeks, or what?

Thanks.

I pre ordered it at GAME, the release on the receipt say it is going to be released OCT 19.

I think you can only play for six months (in-game time, not real time) although I might be mistaken.

I've just read on the FM2008 forum that they're going into manufacture early next week apparently. No official release date as of yet, so it would seem GAME are using a bit of an estimate. Fingers crossed for the 19th, though.

Well, I've been having a bit of a play on the demo and so far, so good – it's not looking bad at all and runs very nicely on my little MacBook. I was especially thrilled to see that several of the teams down in the Blue Square North/South have player pics – I like to play down in the lower leagues so I'm happy with this development!

I'm a little concerned by the lack of realism though, given that Stephen McPhee actually scored for Hull in my first match... :p ;)

We have a release date(s).

UK, Ireland, Italy, France, Portugal, Greece, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Belgium, Holland and any other European countries where the game is normally released apart from the countries below, the release dare will be Friday October 19th. Which really isn't very far away at all.

In Spain, the game will be released on October 26th. Which is slightly later, but we're trying something new in Spain, and will be selling from kiosks for the first time, which is very exciting. There'll be a bit more news about that in tomorrow's blog, coz there's some very cool stuff going on over there.

In Australia, the game will be released on October 25th.

In the Czech Republic, the game will be out on 1st November, and in Poland 8th November. The reason for the delay is to ensure that the translations are spot on for your countries.

For those in Japan, you'll be able to get a fully translated version of the game on December 10th and Korea are planning on launching on 1st November.

Worldwide Soccer Manager will be released in the USA, Canada and Mexico on October 23rd as a boxed version exclusively from www.amazon.com, or as a digital download.

Futbol Manager will also be released as a digital download for the rest of South and Central America on the same day, October 23rd

Been playing th edemo for a while now, not to impressed with the interface, thoug keep it quiet as i know the guy who does the Graphics side of the game (Jesper Andersson, look him up on the credits)

Also i know the game prides itself on how much information is availible, but i can't help but feel bogged down with options, i mean i click on the manager button and there's like 5 options just for the league!

I have to agree the user interface is step or two backwards, however at least that bold, blocky font is gone.

Hurrah! They’ve released the game a day early (here in the UK at least) so I picked up my copy at dinnertime. As an unexpected bonus, when it got rung through the till it came up as being £5 cheaper than it said it was on the shelves. Ace. :)

Let us know how it plays Jaffa. I'm in two minds whether to purchase as I don't seem to have any time for FM at the moment, but considering I've always liked to lose myself in an imaginary league when there's been trouble at County a good review may just swing it :)

****, wish i hadn't found this thread. I really have to do work this year. Still got 2 more seasons before i get my new stadium then i want a couple of seasons to reap the rewards. Can't get into the new game.

I got mine this morning. I will post a review of it on here later today if you like?

I wonder if this game can still run a decent number of leagues on my old 1.2Ghz iBook with 768 MB of ram. . .

probably not at any speed. You are just on the bottom of minimum specs for processor.

Did you ever get that tattoo.

My review:

OK, so it is that time of year again, football fans all over the country and sat infront of their computers watching 22 blobs chase a smaller blob around (sounds a bit like masters football really!).

Well when you install the game it is pretty much same old thing. You then slick the old start game and go through the usual options. As before you have a choice for a quick load or a more advanced custom setup.

The first change you will notice is that when you take control of a team you have to provide expectations to the board. The better you think you will do, the bigger the kitty you get to play with. On the same note, if you don't achieve those targets your head will be on the block. Thats a good little feature, especially if you think you are better than you really are!

The other nice feature is when you get into a game you can make tactical changes 'on the go'. You no longer need to wait for a stoppage in play to switch formation or make a substitution. Great from when you are 1-0 down with 5 minutes to play.

There are other minor tweaks so as a transfer centre where you can see all the proposed ins and outs. Also the teams are pretty much bang upto date. Before when the game was launched the teams where as they are at the end of the transfer window, now they are set well past that. For example Hull City have Jay Jay who signed nearly 1 month after the deadline.

The look of the game, on the whole, is pretty much the same as FM2007. I do think that it maybe a bit 'washier' in appearance. I am not sure how to describe it really. Its not as bold and solid, but with the rate at which new skins come out for the game that isn't too much of an issue.

My little gripes:

You get this thing called "FM advisor"; it is in the same annoyance league as the Mircosoft paperclip. Urgh!

When you go into full screen mode it appears as if they don;t have proper resolution control, everything is just bigger and not necessarily sharper. I am running on a 20" Dell.

In general it is a 'nice' upgrade, nothing spectacular, but if it aint broke, don't fix it!

I am looking forward to FM Live which should be with us in the new year, that should be fun.

If anyone has any specific questions let me know.

Cool! Yeah the advisor in the demo was annoying, managed to get rid of it rather quickly.

I think FM does annoy me as much as I love it, it might just be me, but it never seems professionally done. Ie, Sports Interactives website, release date (messed up again), blogs etc.

In game too I have my gripes, Liverpool playing in yellow, sure its not going to affect gameplay but I would have thought they would have researched that before hand.

Crikey! I hope it does run. I found FM 07 to be quite faster then FM 06 which had lower min specs. . . Anyone have any idea. . .

And yup I did get that tattoo :D
