If you're in the UK, get the BBC Sport app on your phone. It will send notifications to your watch.

Fotmob its free and is the ultimate football enthusiast solution for apple watch/iphone. there are others like forza but fotmob is quite easy to setup for teams/leagues/tournaments(be it world cup, champions league or just about any world wide. , can fine tune it to what type of notifications you want .

FotMob best by a mile. BBC Sport is pretty slow with updates unless you want it for the top divisions. Sky Sports do a football app but i got fed up with that one and switched to FotMob.

There are loads of notification options with it and i turned a lot of them off as i didnt need to know about every yellow card etc so just have kick off, half time, full time, goals, and red cards for the various teams i have set. You get notifications for all of these but you can also use the Watch app to actually check scores for leagues you have set as well if you want.

Another alternative is theScore app:

i liked fotmob but prefer Forza. found it easier on the watch to look at individual scores, also the phone widget is better, but not a big difference, two great apps both on phone and watch.

I like OneFootball as it has a dedicated watch app - can view scores for leagues that you favourite on the watch, even when out of range of the phone if on cellular. The score notification animation is already really nice too, albeit usually 20 seconds or so behind FlashScores.

I’m in the states, but I definitely recommend FotMob. I’m able to follow the teams/leagues I like quickly. Notifications to the watch are great and overall UI is fantastic. Great app overall.
