Just wanted to share this. I currently have a 2G and have really disliked the terrible ringer volume and music volume. That really bothered me a lot and i missed a lot of calls because of it.

Recently i read if you use a pin and stick it through the holes till you feel a pop, it helps but i went further. I slowly pryed off my black speaker/mic cover and there is a piece of black tape over both the speaker and mic. Took them both off, put cover back on and that made a big difference.

Ringer is much better, music is louder and people hear me better. Not sure why they put the tape on. Mic is just a small hole like other phones and the speaker is a small slot much like other phones as well so cant see a big dust problem. Didnt have much dust when i took it off.
