For any Film people out there,whats your set-up for editing HD video?

I edit shorts from 5min to 45min of length at my school uni and was wondering what was best set-up for my MBP low end 2011.

In terms of SSD , External Hard drives, and External monitors.

For example for color correction, which size hd tv would be the best to edit with?

I am also interested to know what type of set-up do uni status people run on thier macs.
