Hi,

I'm about to buy a refurb Rev A Macbook Air for only using Garageband. (Reasons for choosing it over Macbook are portability and screen quality).

Am I going to notice any difference between the 2 models (1.6 80Gb HDD and 1.8 64Gb SSD) for pure Garageband use?

I'm mainly going to be using the software instruments/loops (but might on a rare occasion record in an audio track - never more than one per song though). I don't think I'd ever get to more than 16 tracks, probably maxing at about 8.

As they are $300 apart.

Also am I going to be able to run Garageband with an ease comparable to running it a new low-end macbook? As I know the RevA's get hot under the collar with some apps. I tried Garageband on the white macbook today and it was fine - quick, smooth and easy - but obviously there were no RevA Macbook Airs instore to compare.

Final question - as this will be my first mac and I have only tried garageband on a few occasions - what is the size of an average Song file with no audio running about 8 tracks of midi (so I can figure out how many I can get on the harddrive).

As an additional longshot, if anyone thinks it's possible/is running Logic Pro on an Air I'd be interested to hear about it.

Many thanks for any opinions/answers/comments - all input is much appreciated.
