For iPhone 5 owners. Question.

Yes, a very nice phone. However I can't help but wondering why did they decide to put that aluminum plate at the back. I've only seen it in photos and videos but it definitely looks uglier than the 4 and 4S from behind.

For the ones out there who already have it, is it really uglier than a 4/4S? Or is it just a photo/video appreciation problem?

only a guess of course but there were reports of the back glass on the 4/4s breaking inside cases if rock / dirt got in there.

also its alot lighter.

Personally I welcome our new aluminum overlord.

After 2 years with the same glass design I was ready for something new.

(On another note, I'm super glad they made the screen a bit bigger. It's not a huge change but a welcome one for me.)
 
Why don't you go to one of the stores that will have them Friday, pick it up and take a spin. Decide for yourself. You don't need hand holding, unless you are not a grown up yet ;)

Very, very , very few have the phones already. Responses will be thin. You could read the reviews posted online by the various media outlets though.

I think you're vastly underestimating the mental age of the majority of people on here.
 
Because a glass back wasn't doing it So they went back to aluminum as it is lighter and more durable. Plus helps with reception or something like that.

I personally like the design, The black iPhone 5 looks very sleek. Aluminum always looks nice so its very pleasing to see it back in the iPhone lineup. Plus it's not as slippery as glass which is a plus.

I live in a country (Spain) where the iPhone isn't gonna be in stores until the 28th.
I don't see how being a grown up will make me don't care how it feels on my hand though.

Uh, since this is a very subjective thing, how do you expect to know without seeing yourself? What I find absolutely gorgeous, you might find butt ugly.

For example several people seem to think the modern Nissan 350Z is good looking even though I think they're all on crack.

That's why I'm asking for opinions mate. I just wanna know what people think about the new design. I don't want "the truth" about it, I just wanna know how users feel about it. I'm going to upgrade pretty much for sure but I still wanna see it in person and see what other buyers think of it.
 
i like the new design and it def feels great in hand. however, i still have to praise apple in the design of the iphone4. i mean a phone that's mostly glass!? seriously it was just classy as hell! the iphone 5 is sexy tho :)
