Just a question, does it make sense to move the TouchID to the back of the iPhone to free up screen space and remove a lot of bezel? Would you guys and gals like that or would oppose?

Opposed. It would be hard to use the iPhone with TouchID as fluidly without being able to see where the TouchID scanner is.

But with TouchID on the home button that's not going to save much space at all.

You think people are complaining now with the protruding camera lens...

I could just imagine the havoc if there was some sort of protrusion with a rear Touch ID.

Change the TouchID to read your middle finger.. then you could login while flipping people off! :D

j/k ofc

HTC already proved that it's a bad idea.

I don't think Apple will get rid of the home button anytime soon.
It has been there since the beginning, people are used to it.

Home button isn't going anywhere. When it does go touch ID will prob be integrated into the screen and the home button will prob be on the side of the phone.

It would be awkward to use. Hold your iPhone in landscape... Yeah? Now try sliding your finger towards the middle.

Not going to work. Not even if it's thinner. You will drop the phone.

Going from 5S to something like that would also confuse people too.

They filed a patent a year or so ago to just read the fingerprint through a conducive metal body. So it would activate when the right person picks it up, no active gesture or button necessary.

I can see it going two ways:

In the display (hold finder on screen and it will scan

Incorporate the feature into the front facing camera.

I'll bite. I'm using a g2 right now while waiting for the iPhone and it has the power and volume buttons on the back. You think it would be weird, but its not. Its awesome. If that were to be a fingerprint scanner you could easily make it learn finger prints for your left middle finger in landscape or whichever way you want it. It actually might be pretty cool.

I think Apple is working on the tech to integrate it into the display, the sapphire screens are the first step.
