I have an opportunity to buy a m1 Mac mini with 16 GB of ram, for several hundred less than retail, but I will need to pull the trigger quickly.

I am realizing, that even if apple releases, a semi-pro m machine, it will probably be overkill for my usage, and cost $$$.

I mostly want 4k60 display support, and ability to do some basic 4k video editing, as I have a good amount of footage that I have never been able to play with on my 2012 i7 MM.

I am just curious what bottle necks people run into with the m1, Mac mini, and if you are happy with the purchase.

Thank you.

Why are you posting about this in the iMac section? A Mac Mini is not an iMac.

I don't have a M1 but the main complaint I see reported about it concerning video editing is that if you need to use FCPX Plugins that haven't yet been built natively for Apple Silicon the performance running FCPX through Rosetta 2 isn't great.

If you're fine using only software and plugins built for Apple Silicon to do your video editing (sounds like you probably are) then it should be a good step up from what you are currently using.
