For the old white intel iMacs, did the F1 and F2 keys control the brightness of the screen?

I am looking at the keyboard and I don't see the brightness logos (so that is why I am doubtful).

Or did the brightness control come later with the aluminum iMacs + wireless keyboards?

F14 / F15 control the brightness on that keyboard
