There hasn't been one thing more frustrating about Watch Os 4 than losing the ability to control the music that is on my phone with my watch.

There is no way to do this on your own and the apple store can't do it.

I went to the apple store and plead my case (watch had slowed down a lot was my main case) and they sent my watch back to Apple HQ to get 3.1.3 put on it.
Apparently you can also say that you are trying to sync it with a iPhone 5 and that will do the trick as well.

They said it should be back with my "upgraded" software in a few days.

Somehow I used the Remote app on the watch to control my phone two days ago.

I'll check again when I get home (if I remember). Maybe I was actually controlling my computer instead; it and the phone were on the same table.

[edit] Oh yeah: watchOS 4.1, iOS 11.1 (or whatever is the freshest)

it's called "now playing" now, mine shows up in the dock.

you can also go into "general -> wake screen" and select "auto launch audio apps" and the now playing screen will show up (most of the time) when you are listening to music and raise your wrist.

In wOS 4 Remote works better than it EVER has, especially when using the Workout app. What is the OP talking about???? The OP must be 'puchdrunk' of at least 55.:D

There are many threads about this. The OP is talking about full control of the iPhone library. So on previous WatchOS versions, you could browse the iphone library (songs, playlists, albums, etc.) and could select things to play. Now playing only controls play/pause/skip/go back.

Exactly what bradbomb said. Watch OS 3 used to be able to browse and choose music that is stored on your phone. No longer possible on OS 4, just basic controls.

I agree. Paid £400 on the watch & £90 on AppleCare and one of the key features I used has now gone. Maybe OS 5.0 will remove activity monitoring

I searched the forums when I discovered I could no longer control my music library from my watch. It is one of the most important features of the watch, one that I talk up to non watch owners. I am extremely unhappy. I certainly hope someone is working to get it fixed immediately.
