I've had numerous iPhones and twice have had the home button from dying.

On my iPhone 4 when this happened they showed me an assistive touch option in general settings. Even though I've gotten the 5 I still have that setting on my phone and use it everytime instead of pressing my home button.

Thought I'd share as it is very easy to actually use...

Thanks for the tip.

Very convenient to access many areas of the different phone features.

I know some people do worry about this and I do too slightly. But if my home button plays up, I can assure you that I will be visiting Apple and getting it fixed/swapped.

I'm pretty sure the home button issues only existed with the iPhone 4, and Apple fixed the design flaws with the introduction of the 4S.

What does assistive touch do?

I think Apple has found ways to make it more durable, not just for the consumers benefit, but fr theirs. They lost some money on that button giving people issues
