I purchased my late 2010 MacBook air in mid June from the Mac Store (not apple, but an authorized reseller). I didn't really see the need to wait for today's refresh... That was until the refresh was announced today and I started to drool over the backlit keyboard" and 4GB standard Ram.

I cleaned my air, and put everything back in the box and headed up to the store where I purchased it, to do a trade in. I talked with the manager for 10 mins or so about how my new purchase was already out dated and how disappointed I was in the situation.

his response " how about this, I will take back your MBA, and give you a full credit for the new one, as long as you pre order the new one here right now with the credit I give you". To make matters even better, I purchased the MBA 2 days before back to school started, so I did not receive the promotion. But the manager said that since I technically purchased a new Mac during the BTS promotion, I will also receive their $100 store gift card. I was absolutely shocked I basically got to rent a brand new MBA for 5 weeks for free, and turn around to by the new model for $100 less.

So there you have it! For those of you that purchased around the same timeframe as me, it's worth a shot. I went in there with no expectation of getting a refund, just a trade in and maybe a $200 loss. After all, I was 3 weeks past the allowed return date.
