I was a big big iPhone fan in the early days but I left for the lure of the bigger screen on android. And to be honest, I never thought I would come back. But for some reason, recently the iPhone has been appealing to me and I've been looking again and am considering it. Its the plus that interests me and not the X. Android is great in many ways but I think maybe I miss the simplicity and reliability of iOS. Customisation and features are all well and good but constantly fiddling to disable apps and stop battery drainers etc gets tiresome.

For those of you that have used android for several years then came back, how do you find it? Are the Google apps good enough to maintain some of the Google features? Do you miss any functionality or does iOS have most of it now?

Be interested in any opinions....

You're literally describing my life. I had all iPhones until the 3GS, and then switched to Samsung Note 2, Galaxy S4, and then Galaxy S6. But now I bought the iPhone 8 Plus and I couldn't be happier. Man did I miss the simplicity and attention to detail of the iPhone and iOS.

Like you I opted for the 8+ rather than the X because I'm not certain about the convenience of Face ID over Touch ID. I'm planning to stick with iOS for a while so I might grab the second generation of the X.
