How long from start to finish did the update process take? Trying to decide if I have enough time before I leave for work once it is released.

If I remember correctly, the 2.x update took about 45 mins....

I have an 8GB and it took about 10 minutes. The 3GS 3.0 software is available in the apple firmware repository as of this morning, and the build # is identical to the one floating around in torrents, so it looks like there were no further changes made. Sweet!

If you want to see which 3.0 firmware is available publicly, run this command in terminal (stolen from E. Sadun's article on TUAW this morning):

curl -s -L http://phobos.apple.com/version | grep -i restore | grep '_3.' | open -f

2,1 is for the 3GS. 1,2 is for the 3G. 1,1 is for the 2G.

Wow, I can't remember it taking that long.

The software update itself doesn't take long but it took about 30 minutes to restore all my data/apps back on the iphone. Took about 45 minutes total for me.

I just did the regular update (which worked fine, no slow downs or glitches) and it just took 10-15 minutes, like everyone is saying.

yup....

+1. Most of the time (about 30 minutes) is doing the restore getting all your songs and stuff loaded.

45 minutes seems almost exact.
