Hi experts!

My co-worker is offering me his used iMac i3 21.5" with stock components (1TB HD, 4GB ram, 516MB vRam, released July 2010) for $1000 canadian. Do you think this is a fair price? He says he bought it in April 2011 so it is still under warranty. So I think I could still buy apple care for it. But I can also get a refurb right now from apple for $1099.

Even if this is a fair price (or I could go lower) is this machine powerful enough to run CS5, auto cad and other architectural design software? (i know not relevant to the forum, but saves me from dual posting!)

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. I checked mac2Sell and ebay but there is quite the discrepancy ($710 to $1099).

Thanks in advance!

You can get the base 2011 model for 1019CAD from refurb store and it's way more powerful than the iMac your coworker is offering. I would say something like 800CAD might be fair, otherwise the refurb is much better (especially for AutoCAD).
