Force click not working on 2016 MBP with Touch Bar

I have a 2016 MBP with Touch Bar. This is my first Mac with a Force Click trackpad. However, when I enable Force Click with single finger in the Trackpad settings and try to force click on links or try to look up words in Safari, nothing happens. But when I change to a 3-finger tap setting, instead of the single finger Force Click, the lookup works as expected. Any idea what is going on and why Force Click might not be working for me?
