Is there any shortcut to force close an app that's running full screen?

I use emulators quite a bit to play old games and have the settings set to full screen. Invariably, when I come back to one after quite a while of not using it I'll launch it without checking to see what the full screen shorcut is. This launches the emualtor full screen and I end up having to power off the system and reboot to get back to MacOS.

alt-cmd-esc will bring up the force quit dialog box: not sure if it will work if you have a full screen app running though
Also, cmd-q will quit the currently running app, so that may also work
