Hello everyone,

I know that all of you will probably answer like this: ''you cannot because you will get your iphone bricked'' But I have looked at the differences of the iphone 2g and the 3g, and the only difference is the 3g antenna, so basically the interior is identical. So, is there a way to do that force install? (Although I am new, I have some experience with this)

There is no way for the iPhone 3G 4.2.1 ipsw to be installed on an iPhone 2G.
The highest you can go is 3.1.3
You won't get it bricked just iTunes will never allow the install to go on. it will detect its not a compatible firmware version for that device and give you an error.

Well, no, its not just about the 3G antenna. Processor runs at different clock speed too. iTunes simply will not allow you to install it.

Is there a way to edit the ipsw(with winrar, for example)to allow the 3g 4.2.1 to install there? Or maybe trick itunes to recognize the 2g as a 3g? (when I open itunes, in devices, instead of saying iphone 2g under details, it will say 3g)

Even if it can be done. Why bother? iOS 4.2.1 is slow like crap on iPhone 3G. Isn't it better for you to install Whited00r OS 6 instead?

EDIT: You forgot iPhone 3G has GPS, 2G doesn't. And its more complicated then you think it is. Baseband etc.

hackerwayne:
I have whited00r 6 installed. But whited00r is just a simulation of what it really would be. It is not really ios 6.
Plus, I do not think it is better to install a recreation of ios 6. I prefer real ios.

It cannot happen dude.
You still don't get it?
I want to play Call of Duty on my Atari too. Tell me how to force install it.
