Have an early 2014 MBP running OSX 10.13.1. The built in bluetooth is struggling with my mouse and keyboard. At times the connection is so laggy it's unusable. I've read that this is a design flaw in the way they built the antenna.

I have a USB bluetooth adapter that OSX sees but it won't use. I've tried a couple options that did not work but they were from earlier versions of OSX. How can I force the computer to prefer the USB adapter vs the built in bluetooth antenna?

Delete Library/Preferences/ com.apple.Bluetooth.plist

Shutdown the MBP Insert the USB Bluetooth dongle

Wouldn't hurt to do a PRAM re-set

Start the MBP.

pair your headset, . .whateever.

Works for me.

On my Mac Pro Mavericks, Yosemite and I suspect Hi Sierra give way to dongles OVER any internals.

Least it seems that way.
