I have a Macbook using Mac OS X 10.4.8

Sometimes when programs freeze i force quit and the window of the program leaves the screen but the program itself doesn't quit. When i try to open it, no windows show up and it doesn't appear on the top menu bar. When i try to force quit it again, it shows up there but when i force quit the program still won't quit !!

This has happened to Finder, Safari, Microsoft Office, and iChat.
Can someone help me please ?

I suppose you have repaired permission, updated prebindings and ran maintenance scripts?

Try restarting the machine. Run Disk Utility which is in the Applications folder > Utilities folder. If Verify Disk finds a problem you will have to start your computer from the disk that came with your machine (insert that disk, and restart while holding down the C key). Rerun Disk Utility using the Repair Disk option. I hope this helps.
