Hi all,

Just received a 12" Macbook and am a bit confused: I had thought that with Force Touch, the touchpad doesn't move. But I can clearly see it moving downwards. Do I misunderstand what Force Touch is?

Thanks.

The pressure detection is via several "force sensors" which measure the amount of flex, therefore the glass does flex a bit when you're pressing on it.

The clicking sensation is 100% the haptic engine however.

You can turn off the computer and then try pressing again, and with it off you'll feel a difference. Its crazy how good the haptic engine works on the MacBook.

The glass will not flex, the flex is the elastic metal under the glass on the four conner, the metal can be bend and it had sensor detect the degree so machine know how many pressure you push.
