Force Touch Removed in watchOS 7

What is it with Apple and removing things that have become essential to a device?

My iPhone X has the 3D Touch hardware, yet they've forced the functionality off my phone using software!

And now they've removed it from the Watch!!

I understand one of the reasons they might have done this is that users might not have discovered force touch easily, but it works really well on a tiny device.

Either Apple has figured out a way to use watchOS without force touch, or this is just a bug in dev beta 1. I certainly hope for the latter, though if they have found ways around it I’m fine too.
