Force Touch removed to make way for S7 bigger screen?

Anyone else think that when Apple nixed the force touch HW from the Series 6 last year, it was to facilitate the bigger screens this year? Looking at teardowns, I don't see how they'd have been able to shrink the bezels like they did if they still had to make room for the gaskets and hardware.

Don't know but I'd much rather have a bigger screen than force touch.

I miss force touch on my S6 because now anytime the screen rests against my skin, it activates the "edit watch face?" screen. So annoying.

I think it’s more like they want to remove Force Touch altogether from all their software since it’s not a discoverable gesture and also increased the thickness of the screen.
