Forced app sync??

So i had a mac that i sold that my iphone was synced to, now i got a new mac and i have to sync the phone to its library.
But when i do that it tells me it has to transfer my iphone purchases to my mac, and if i dont it will delete them from the phone.
Is that normal? I did it but im not happy having 6gigs of apps on my 64gb air, its useless.

BTW i have sync apps disabled
