Forced authentication in OS 10.2

Hi - I am setting up some eMacs with Jaguar for a library lab on a college campus. Every public machine must authenticate the user against a Samba server before they can log-in. I have previously used an extension called MacLogin for AppleShare, which worked pretty well in OS 9. I'd like to start moving the campus to OS X, so is there a way to do something like this in OS 10.2?
