Ok, this is actually quite important, but neither O2 or Apple have provided clear information.

The insurance rates touted by O2 and CPW seem extortionate, but they would seem to insist that their insurance is mandatory if I expect to keep using my existing contract.

I was told over the phone by O2 that I could not register a new iPhone to my existing contract and would therefore have to buy it out.

I was told on the phone by Apple that I could simply buy a new one and get it put over.

I can't see any reasonable argument why you would be blocked from your contract because you have to replace your iPhone.

There was a thread on the Apple discussion board and someone referred to the O2 contract stating that section 8.3 implies that you could replace your handset;

8.3 If this Agreement is ended during the Minimum Period, you may be required to pay us the monthly subscription charges up to the end of that Minimum Period. This does not apply if you end the Agreement for the reasons in paragraph 8.4 or if you purchase a new iPhone from us, but in this case you agree that a new Minimum Period will apply.

I want Apple / Os to clearly answer / address this, I am already nirked that my first monthly tariff is > £35 (well only by £1 something - but you know).
