Forced to enter passcode 'mark as read' emails from the lock screen everytime?

IOS 13 allowed me to mark emails as read from the lock screen. Can I do this in IOS 14 without having to enter my passcode every time (I do not use face ID)? It is very irritating and slows the whole process down.
